Installation Guidelines

You want your new turbocharger to last, and so do we!

Please take a moment to read and follow these installation tips BEFORE installing your new turbocharger, to ensure you get the best performance and maintain your warranty.

Before installing the new turbocharger:

a) Ensure the turbocharger part number is correct for your application using your Engine Serial Number.  Check for any relevant OEM Service Bulletins.

b)  Drain old motor oil and remove old oil filter.  A new oil feed line and oil filter must be installed along with the new turbocharger to validate your warranty.

c) Remove all plastic or metal plugs from the new turbocharger

change your oil and replace all filters when installing a new turbocharger
clean the air intake system before installing a new turbocharger

Properly clean or replace your air intake.  Make sure no debris enters the turbocharger or oil feed / drain.

Debris and foreign material will cause premature turbocharger failure.

Install turbocharger and connect all piping.  Use new gaskets and anti-seize compound (such as Loctite).

Before attempting to start the engine, perform pre-lube or crank the engine with the fuel shut off.  Confirm the oil level has reached the turbocharger and make sure all pressures are good and no leaks are present.  Tighten the oil inlet fitting and line, and clean any oil residue from oil lines and the turbocharger.

check for air and oil leaks after installing the new turbocharger

Start and run the engine at idle for several minutes. Check for oil, exhaust and air leaks.

Perform Boost Leak Tests or Smoke Tests as needed to ensure no air leaks are present.  Testers should be installed at the turbocharger inlet if possible.

Boost leaks contribute to premature turbocharger failure and reduced performance – proper testing must be done to ensure your turbocharger remains eligible for warranty consideration.  Taking pictures as proof of testing is strongly recommended.

To make sure your new turbocharger remains eligible for warranty consideration, keep receipts for new oil feed lines and oil filters.  Proof of proper air leak testing may also be required, depending on mode of failure.
